Happy Hispanic Heritage Month! There are so many reasons to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month this year – and in our opinion, every day of the year. This is the perfect time to show our collective love and shine a little more light on Hispanic heritage in appreciation of the vast cultural contributions throughout the world.

There are a few days left to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month! This special month may be coming to a close, but we are looking forward to working worth our Spanish-speaking friends even more in the future as we launch our upcoming U.S. Hispanic market!

What is Hispanic Heritage Month?

This cultural celebration is situated precisely in the last two weeks of September and the first two weeks of October, more specifically September 15 through October 15. Formal Hispanic Heritage “month” was originally observed in the U.S. in 1968 as a one-week respectful homage. Twenty years later in 1988, it expanded to an entire month of celebration. Though it may initially seem a bit odd that Hispanic Heritage Month falls between two different months, there’s actually a reason for this!

September 15 marks the anniversary of independence for many Latin American countries including Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua. The very next day Mexico celebrates their independence on September 16 and Chile celebrates their independence a couple of days later on September 18. Finally, the holiday known as Día de la Raza (“Day of the Race”) falls on October 12. Sprinkle a few birthdays throughout this 30-day stretch and it’s practically a constant party!

Hispanic Heritage Month is the perfect time to open up conversations with your friends, coworkers, family, and acquaintances to talk about what the Hispanic experience is all about, to learn some rich history, and expand your world. This occasion is all about paying respect where respect is due and learning a bit too – and we love it! Hispanic culture has affected lives all over the planet in both small and great ways. It’s about more than delicious food and exciting holidays we all love to celebrate; Hispanic culture has and continues to inspire us and give us so much to be thankful for.
